Andra Lee is a former news journalist with ten years experience in on-air reporting in both radio and TV. Andra has 15 years experience with voice-over ad work. Has done home show voice overs, and her voice over experience includes professional voice overs for a variety of commercial advertisements in Central Illinois and Indianapolis.

Rick is an independent producer of broadcast commercials and audio/video soundtracks. Rick has done national production work for clients such as Sears, Anheuser-Busch, Pillsbury, State Farm Insurance, Cadillac Motor Car Division of General Motors, Caterpillar, Archer Daniels Midland, IBM, Sylvania, Hilton Hotels, the U.S. Army, Americana Healthcare Corporation, Jayco Recreational Vehicles, and Jewel Food Stores.

Rick does work for Bigg Studio from his digitally equipped studio that features a custom PR&E mixing console, Panasonic DAT (Digital Audio Tape) recorders, and a Spectral 8 track computerized digital audio editing system.

Rick’s background includes a BS and MS in Communications from the University of Illinois, and over 40 years experience in broadcast production.

Ever since I was a child, I have always had the ability to “mimic” just about any voice or famous movie star. For years, (starting at the age of 9) I carried a tiny cassette recorder around with me everywhere and ran this ongoing commentary into it all the time. While attending High School, one of my electives was TV Production and I found it to be fascinating. The students were learning stage presence, film editing, narration and vocal control. As time went by, I realized that my voice had the potential to go somewhere in the Voice-over industry. So, I began studying different voices, accents and various characters to develop my own style. Later on, I started my own mobile DJ business and soon I was DJing at many clubs and bars all over Long island. That went on for about 2 years until I attended a Voice-over school in Manhattan called “Video Active Productions” which prepped me for the V.O. business. Many years went by and I didn’t really pursue anything actively, until now. Friends, family and even co-workers have been pushing me in this direction so I finally decided to re-write my path and re-do some demos. And now I’m here on Bigg Studio. Thank you for visiting my page.

I’ve spent over 20 years of my life talking a into microphone, editing audio, and creating audio production!

I really can’t believe it’s been that long. Here’s how long it’s been:

When I first started in radio, we played records. So, when I DJ’d, I had to cue up the songs, and sometimes place a quarter on the player needle so the album wouldn’t skip!

Then albums made way for carts (like 8-track tapes with just one song on it). I also became a master at cutting and splicing reel in the on-air studio, and in the production room. Mark where you wanted the edit to start and stop, cut and tape. I really did carry a razor blade, and wax pencil in my purse!

Then carts and reel to reel were left behind for computers and digital editors. Songs in the on-air booth were loaded up automatically. I never had to run to the bathroom watching my second hand with discipline ever again! Heck, I could be gone for 10 minutes at a time now! In the production room, this new technology made producing a breeze! Same principle’s…mark where you want the edit to start, mark where you want it to end, highlight and DELETE! I really don’t miss the razor blade and wax pencil!

I love broadcasting, creating, producing, editing, talking…so all of this explains a lot.

I’d have to say the best part about being a producer, is that I get to take an idea and bring it to life! And after all of the work and tinkering, I get to sit back and listen to the finished product.

Here’s a production that I’m really proud of. My husband (and co-host) George and I created this podcast for The Kentucky Derby. A special thanks to one of my radio mentors, Jerome Ritchey for making an audio appearance in the production!
